Fun, friendship and kindness, hallmark the Celestine and the Hare series which are perfect for 3 – 5 year old’s.
Children will love the little felt animals in the Celestine and Hare the tribe and the activities at the end of each book. This story encourages ecological awareness and a playful discovery of the importance of bees.
Emily bear is wise and patient, just the kind of loving mother figure that Baby Weasus, an orphan weasel (left on her doorstep one Christmas) needs.
When Emily tends her bees, Baby Weasus takes an interest. She really wants to play with the bees but Emily kindly says they are far too busy making honey to play. Baby Weasus likes honey and wants to thank them for sharing it.
But how do you thank a bee? The thoughtful bear encourages the little weasel to plant flowers. After a good long look through the big plant book, Baby Weasus selects Chives, which can be eaten too!
Emily is wonderfully crafty. While the little weasel is planting chive seeds, she climbs an alder tree to collect tiny cones with her woolly white claws.
Together they make little bees using alder cones, yellow wool, tissue paper and sewing thread. Emily hangs the bees up and makes toast and honey for tea. Yum!
Filled with friendly chatter little people will enjoy, Emily’s positive and thoughtful comments set a tone of caring and creativity.
This book has two activities: A step by step plan for making your own little elder cone bees and how to plant seeds to grow flowering plants for bees.
