Buy – Elephant Joe, Brave Knight!
Elephant Joe and Zebra Pete are hero’s in this simple story of a stolen king’s crown.
What this book has going for it is that it has quirky humour and striking artwork. The Dark Knight masquerades as a damsel in distress to lure the hero’s into the castle, but when the disguise is thrown off the villain is revealed to be… a female crocodile who steals Pete’s horse and escapes with the crown.
Yikes! Who can release them from the locked tower? Would you believe it? The dragon who they were polite to has a spare key! Cool! He also gives them a ride so they can save the day.
A knighthood and a banquet are their rewards and the captive Dark Knight has to kiss the crown wearing frog as punishment… and no he does not turn into a prince much to his disappointment. The storyline for Elephant Joe, Brave Knight is pretty simple but young reader will enjoy it anyway.
Encourages politeness and challenges stereotypes. A silly romp with a chuckle or two.
