BUY – Dr. Seuss’s ABC
Bizarre and brilliant. Dr Seuss’s ABC book can only be described as educationally timeless.
Adults will enjoy reading this alphabet book which tongue twists and frolics through a jungle of stimulating and imaginative phrases.
“O is very useful. You use it when you say: “Oscar’s only ostrich oiled an orange owl today.”
BIG L, little l…the use of capitals and lower case text helps kids to identify that both letters are L’s.
Lovely use of alliteration reverberates the sound of the letter for powerful early learning.
“Ten tired turtles in a tuttle-tuttle tree.
Not all the pages feature rhyming but they are generally a mouthful anyway.
“Willy Waterloo washes Warren Wiggins who is washing Waldo Woo.”
As is Dr Seuss’s trademark, fantastical words and unusual sentences are accompanied by strange creatures doing silly things. “What begins with C? Camel on the ceiling”.
Each page is approached quite differently, keeping children guessing until they know the book by rote.
M is a marvellous page. “Many mumbling mice are making midnight music in the moonlight…mighty nice”.
Another great book for your child’s reading collection or to borrow from the library!
