Richly coloured, magical pictures in Alison Jay’s distinctive style, lead children through their Alphabet learning in this fun little board book.

The letters are all in lower case and feature the standard ‘a is for apple’, however that is where the book departs the usual formula.

A green hilled world is gently opened in which the objects and creatures featured on each page seem to live. Begging to be discovered by the child’s keen eye, each detail lead us onward through an ever changing landscape.

High above the giant apple a tiny hot air balloon is floating. When we see the balloon and basket up close in the next picture, a little house can be seen in the distance. When we get to see inside the house, a dog is dancing with delight.

Resting on the dresser is a plate with an elephant painted on it. Suddenly we are in the story on the plate. An elephant is being offered flowers while the hot air balloon lies deflated across its basket in the foreground. You get the idea.

Whimsical and slightly surreal this delicious Alphabet book is sure to captivate the imagination as well as the eye. There are many other items which start with the featured letter scattered through each picture.
